Rumi Darwaza

Entry : free

Address : रूमी दरवाज़ा, Lajpat Nagar Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Machchhi Bhavan, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India

Why to visit Rumi Darwaza

It is located between the Bara and Chota Imambaras and features historic Awadhi architecture. It is also known as the Turkish Gate since it is modelled after the Bab-i-Humayun entryway in Turkey, which was built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula. Rumi Darwaza, in Lucknow's centre, towers above Lajpatnagar's hectic daily traffic like an elderly guardian angel who has seen the city rise and fall. Roads stretch to both sides of the Rumi Darwaza arch, and they are busy, packed, and cacophonous throughout the day.

Special Tip

It is best to go when the temperature is mild, rather than when it is really hot or cold.
