Why to visit Jama Masjid

Sultan Ahmed Shah created the monument entirely out of yellow sandstone in 1423, and it is still admired today for its intricate decorations and exquisite blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Many of the pillars have intricate carvings that are aesthetically inspired by Jain and Hindu traditions. The Jama Masjid covers an incredible 4,950 square metres, with 260 pillars supporting just the western hall. Despite being compared to Delhi's Jama Masjid, this mosque has developed its own following due to its distinctive architectural design. The mausoleum of Sultan Ahmed Shah himself may be found on the eastern entrance.

Special Tip

You should try to visit the mosque in the early morning hours so that you can see the mosque's architectural beauty.
