The Charbagh Railway Station in Lucknow, however, is an anomaly. It has a majestic aspect, akin to that of a palace or mansion, and is one of India's most renowned railway stations. The massive structure incorporates Rajput, Awadhi, and Islamic architectural elements, including minarets and domes. The edifice appears to be a palace from distance. From afar, the structure resembles a checkerboard, with the domes and pillars serving as game pieces. It is unquestionably a “must-see” attraction in Lucknow.
