Why to visit Shree Mahalaxmi Temple
Durga, the goddess of health and prosperity, is revered in Kolhapur's Mahalakshmi Temple, one of India's busiest temples. It is claimed that Sati's eyes are where the modern temple is located because of legendary facts. And for that reason it is regarded as the Shaktipeetha.
The stunning Durga statue, encrusted with gems and jewellery, can be found in the temple's main sanctum. Locals claim that in the Mahalaxami Temple, nature and divine force converge. The temples gain their status as classic architectural marvels thanks to their finely carved stone pillars and arches.
The Mahalaxami or Amba Bai temple is the most revered among Kolhapur's many temples. The idol of the temple, which was constructed in the seventh century by the Chalukya ruler Karnadeva, is covered in diamonds and other valuable stones. The mandapa's ceiling is intricately carved.
