Maharaja Bhupinder Singh made Chail his summer capital, and being a cricket fan, he constructed a cricket ground on the crest of a hill. As a result, Chail is home to the world's highest cricket ground. The cricket pitch was built after a big hilltop was levelled. The cricket facility is also utilised as a polo ground and is located at an elevation of 2,444 metres above sea level.
