The History!
The history of Chail is not so old. The construction of the city began because of a fight between Maharaja Rajendra, the King of Patiala and Lord Kitchener, the British Soldier when the former was forbidden to visit Shimla in the year 1891. As a result, he built his own summer retreat at Chail, the place deep hidden in the woods, far from the crowds, gentle for the heart, soothing for the mind as per his special requirements.
Maharaja Bhupender Singh constructed the highest cricket ground of the world in Chail for his cricket enthusiasm. Later the king of Patiala donated most of his building and property to the Government of India after the Indian Union.
