Why to visit Norzin Lam Street

This street will give you with retail therapy and satisfy your need to gather souvenirs, with over 400 stalls spread over two stories. All of these stalls sell some of the finest pieces of local crafts, and it is one of the most popular shopping districts for visitors from all over the world. The stalls sell every type of craft, from embroidered boots to handcrafted papers, and there are plenty of opportunities to bargain, making this market popular with shopaholics and travellers who want to go deep and experience the beauty of the local crafts.

This particular street, which is a popular shopping destination, is located in Thimphu and is in the main city, or around 2 kilometres distant from the main city centre. If you don't want to buy anything, there are shops on both sides of the street where you can gaze. The street opens around 8:30 a.m. and runs until 9:00 p.m. at night. The handcrafted items in this market are exquisite yet expensive, and there are also numerous local textile businesses.

Special Tip

There is a handicraft shop where you may buy prayer wheels, Buddha statues, thangkas, colourful masks, and musical instruments as well as other mementos.
