Why to visit Golden Temple

The Golden Temple is located in Amritsar, the Sikhs' sacred city. The Golden Temple, with its complete golden dome, is one of Sikhs' most important pilgrimage sites. The Mandir is a two-story edifice built on a 67-foot square of marble. The Durgiana Temple, for example, is flanked by a number of other noteworthy temples. Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh Guru, created Amritsar, which houses the Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib, after first building a pool here. The epic Ramayana was written here by Sage Valmiki. Rama and Sita are said to have spent their fourteen-year exile at Amritsar, the Sikhism's spiritual capital.

Special Tip

Before entering the Golden Temple, visitors must remove their shoes and cover their heads.
