1. Abbey Falls 


Abbey Falls, located barely 1km from Madikeri, is one of Coorg's most famous tourist attractions. The water cascade falling from the cliff from a height of 70 feet is a breathtaking sight to witness. The trek to the falls from the main entrance is approximately 200 steps down and passes past unique coffee, cardamom, pepper, and other spice plantations. Even though bathing in the falls is no longer permitted, there is an over-bridge opposite the falls from which to admire the magnificence.

How To Reach: The distance from Abbey falls to Madikeri is just 8 km and one can reach it by hiring a cab or an auto. Tourists will have to take the Galibeedu road from Madikeri to reach Abbey Falls.

2. Brahmagiri Peak


This majestic hill, 1608 m high, is located atop the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. The hill's crest is densely forested and abundant in fauna. The Iruppu Falls, the Thirunelli Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and Pakshipathalam, which features a cave, are the main attractions near this walk. The 10-kilometer Brahmagiri trip begins at Irupu Falls. Permission to trek must be obtained in advance from the Range Forest Officer (RFO) in Srimangala village (10 km from Irupu). A guide can be hired close to Iruppu Falls.

How To Reach: To access Iruppu Falls, travel 10 kilometres to Srimangala village or Kutta. You can hire a vehicle to get to the waterfall. You must stroll through a forest route that passes near this cascade zone.

3. Iruppu Falls 


Iruppu Falls is a beautiful waterfall that cascades through the Brahmagiri Mountain Range in South Karnataka's Coorg district. Along the banks of the river, on the way to the spectacular falls, is the famed Shiva temple Rameshwara. The chilly water of the Iruppu falls is considered holy and has the potential to cleanse the visiting devotees' past misdeeds. A forest trail runs from these falls to the Brahmagiri Peak on a lush, green mountain slope, making it one of the best places to visit in Coorg. Many visitors ascend the steep slope to reach the second tier of the falls, but they must use extreme caution.

How To Reach: These falls are located about 80 km from Madikeri and 25 km from Nagarhole and are easily accessible by road. The best method to get here is to hire a jeep or a cab from one of the local cities. It is located on the way from Gonikopal to the Nagarhole National Park.

4. Raja’s Seat


Raja's Seat is a garden built on elevated land that overlooks the valleys to the west, making it a popular spot for watching sunrise and sunset. One of the nicest places to visit in Coorg, it is dotted with floral plants and skillfully made artificial fountains. The garden here is a favourite picnic area for locals. A Toy Train is also accessible, and the fountains have been transformed into melodic fountains. It stands 1525 m above sea level. Evenings are equally beautiful when the day winds down and the Sun sets in the mountains. 

How To Reach: Raja's Seat is located in Madikeri and is easily accessible from anywhere in town. It is only 1 mile from the Madikeri Bus Stop. To get here, you can take an auto-rickshaw or a taxi.

5. Mandalpatti Viewpoint


Mandalpatti is a stunning and unique vantage point in Coorg, Karnataka, overlooking the grassy knolls of Pushpagiri forests in the Western Ghats. This location, located at an elevation of 1800 m, is also known as 'Muguli-Peth' (translated in English as the market of clouds). A 200m walk is available here. You can also go on a Jeep riding trip for around 750 to 1000 INR per person. The viewpoint provides a panoramic view of the city and its surrounding plains, making it one of Coorg's most popular tourist attractions. 

How To Reach: Mandalpatti can be reached in two ways. One is from the direction of Abbi Falls and entails a 20-kilometer jerky ride. The alternate route is through Makkandaru, which is home to a lot of waterfalls and streams.
