Why to visit Varkala Aquarium
Varkala Aquarium is a government aquarium in the Thiruvambadi area of Varkala, Kerala, about 4 kilometres from Varkala Railway Station. It is one of Varkala's most popular tourist attractions.
Varkala Aquarium is located near Black Sand Beach and Thiruvambadi Beach in a three-story facility with a spiral staircase. The marine creatures are arranged in a spiral pattern along the spiral walkway. All of the species are housed in an open tank on the building's top floor. Exotic species such as scorpionfish, angelfish, koi, and the indigenous karimeen can be seen in large numbers at the aquarium.
The Kerala Fisheries Department looks after the Varkala Aquarium. The aquarium also offers a 3D theatre where visitors may learn more about different fish species utilising 3D technology. With thorough information sections, the aquarium is incredibly instructive, especially for children. From the structure, one can see the picturesque Varkala Cliff and the azure seas of the Arabian Sea.
