Why to visit Edava Beach
Edava is a well-known tourist destination near Varkala. Edava Beach is a peaceful beach located in Edava Village in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram District. The tranquil and lovely backwaters and beaches draw a large number of tourists to this location.
Here, an estuary connects the Edava-Nadayara lake with the Arabian Sea. During the monsoon season, water gushes out of the lake and reaches the sea, attracting visitors from the nearby villages. A 1 km length of blue lagoon runs next to the road in the middle, with the sea and backwaters flowing parallel to it. The sight of water crashing into the Arabian Sea is spectacular.
Edava has witnessed some of Kerala's most significant historical events. During Queen Umayamma's reign, a 'Mughal Sardar' assaulted Venad in 1680, according to historical records. From Thovala's south to Edava's north, he ruled. Tippu Sultan of Mysore attacked Edava in the 18th century. They stayed at the Kapil Bhagavathy Temple at Kapil Bhagavathy. However, the honey bees attacked him and his army. The British East Indian Company was granted permission by Queen of Attingal in 1726 to construct a Pandikasala (godown) near what is today known as Vettakkada, close to the Arabian Sea. However, traders from Denmark had already established a commercial centre in the area.
The beach and the surrounding area do not get humid due to its location. This results in favourable weather, making it possible for vacationers to spend longer time at the beach. There aren't many people who wouldn't enjoy spending some time on this peaceful beach.
