Why to visit Monument Valley
Only the Navajo Indians who inhabited the area were aware of this location's beauty. Monument Valley didn't start to get any notoriety until John Ford included this area in several of his well-known movies, including Stagecoach and Rio Grande. There are hiking paths, campgrounds, and a 27-kilometer (17-mile) picturesque drive in the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Numerous well-known films, including Forrest Gump, National Lampoons Vacation, Mission: Impossible II, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the most recent HBO series Westworld, have included Monument Valley as a prominent location.
