Why to visit Pahalgam
It is a renowned tourist destination and a picturesque hill station. Pahalgam is known for adventure sports such as climbing, trekking, and fishing and is located on the banks of the Liddar River.
Pahalgam is the starting point for the Amarnath Yatra, one of India's most important pilgrimages. The true base camp of the Amarnath Trail is Chandanwari, which is 16.6 kilometres from Pahalgam. One of the most popular treks in the region is to the Kolhoi Glaciers via Aru, a picturesque hamlet. Sledding on the frozen glaciers is also available from the locals. Furthermore, the large expanses of rivers in Pahalgam are ideal for those who prefer trout fishing.
Pahalgam has its own distinct charm, regardless of the season. The months of March through November, however, are the greatest for visiting Pahalgam. The village has a large influx of tourists during the summer, especially during the holy retinue to the Amarnath Caves.
