Why to visit Someshwar Beach

Someshwara Shore is also home to the Someshwara Temple, which is devoted to the Hindu God Shiva, and it is said that the boulders that dot the beach are due to the God's presence. However, because of the presence of these rocks, as well as the strong currents, the waters are not ideal for swimming and are quite dangerous. The "Ottinene Hill," a lovely vantage point with mesmerising views of the city below, the river Netravati, and the large gorgeous Arabian Sea, is another popular destination in the vicinity of the beach.

The historical Somanath Temple, which was built during the reign of the legendary Queen Abbakka Devi (16th century), is located to the north of Someshwar seashore. Lord Shiva is the presiding deity, and the temple is decorated with exquisite sculptures. The statue of the famous sage Parusharama can be found on the temple grounds. According to legend, Parusharama created the coastal region of Karnataka (together with Kerala).
