Why to visit Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park

This zoo, also known as Darjeeling Zoo, is a haven for all types of animals and a popular destination for animal lovers and nature aficionados. The zoo is well-known for its breeding and conservation activities, and it also houses a snow leopard and red panda breeding centre that is not on show. Aside from these unusual species, the zoo also has Asiatic black bears, barking deer, leopards, blue and yellow Macaws, Eastern Pangolins, Pheasants, Himalayan Monal, Himalayan Wolf, Lady Amherst, Leopard Cat, and many others. This attraction was built in 1958 and is named after Padmaja Naidu, the former governor of West Bengal and daughter of Sarojini Naidu. It is India's largest high altitude zoo, with an average height of around 7000 feet.

When visiting the zoo, do not bring any polythene bags or plastic bottles.
