Ranchi gets its name from the word 'Archi,' which means bamboo forest. At a height of 2,140 feet above sea level, the town is completely covered in red dirt. Ranchi, which is known for its waterfalls, green hilly regions, barren cliffs, and scenic valleys, is also abundant in natural resources such as iron, coal, copper, mica, and other minerals, making it a major city of industries. Ranchi is surrounded by forested areas with a diverse range of flora and wildlife. Bear, nilgai, hare, sambar, and chital can all be found in the woodlands. Hundru Falls, Panch Gagh Falls, Jonha Falls, Hirni Falls, and Ursi Falls are among the most spectacular waterfalls in the area. Ranchi was in the epicentre of India's resistance to the British. KNOW ABOUT THE ANCIENT HISTORY
Ranchi was previously ruled by the Munda Rajas, who had their royal home at the famous Ram Temple. During Asoka's reign (273-232 BC), Magadha Empire ruled, but the Mauryan Empire dug its heels in, and after its decline, the Kharavels of Kalinga arrived, followed by the Guptas. King Phanimukut, the founder of the Nag Dynasty, established the Kingdom of Chotanagpur. The Munda and Oraon tribes of the native region, also ruled here. Following Akbar's ascension to Delhi's throne, the Mughals seized over. Following the death of Akbar in 1605, the territory was ruled by Durian Sal, a tribal leader. Jehangir of the Mughal dynasty, however, reclaimed control a few years later. The East India Company took control of this city in 1772. Ranchi was conquered by the British in 1757, following victory in the Battle of Plassey.
WELCOME TO THE ART AND CULTURE
Buddhism, Jainism, the Mughals, and Hindu monarchs have all inspired Ranchi's work. During the Sarhul festival, tribal groups congregate in Ranchi and form a procession. Music, instruments, and dances from the past are commonplace. Basant Panchami, Holi, Diwali, Chath, and Jityya Bhaiya are all celebrated in this area, as is the Dokra art form. Chhau and Santhal, both group dances performed by the Santhal tribe, are two of the most popular dance traditions. The popular cuisines include local variants such as Arsa, Dhuska, Chhilka, Chhilka, and others.Karma is another prominent folk dance which is performed in August during the Karma festival. Because of the dense vegetation, locals have used bamboo and wood to make baskets, hunting and fishing tools, rice huskers, and other items. Sabai grass is a wild grass that is dyed and braided into bowls, penstacks, coasters, mats, colourful boxes, dolls, and other items.

The site is surrounded by lush nature, making it a great picnic spot in the area.
- Johna Falls - The Johna Falls, which plunge from a height of roughly 45 meters, are encircled by a beautiful canopy of tall trees and thick bushes. These massive roaring falls are formed when the holy waters of the Ganga and the Raru meet. They are also known as the Gautamdhara Falls, after a Buddhist shrine that is located near the falls.
