The first zoological park in the Uttarakhand region is Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo, which is situated at a height of 2100 m. It is known as Sher Ka Danda locally and covers a 4.6 hectare area. The zoo is a well-liked tourist destination and is home to a number of endangered animals.

Himalayan Bear, Himalayan Civet, Hill Patridge, Tibetan Wolf, Sambar, Barking Deer, Royal Bengal Tiger, and other bird and animal species have been spotted at the zoo. To keep the birds warm during the winter, the bird enclosures are draped with curtains.
