Bhimtal, named after the legendary Bhima of the Mahabharata, is a beautiful lake surrounded by green mountains. It is located at an elevation of over 4500 ft. It is a 'C' shaped lake that expands over an area of 47 hectares. You can take a walk around the lake or go boating on Bhimtal Lake. 

An aquarium with a variety of fish species and a temple are located on an island in the middle of the lake, which is a popular tourist attraction. There is also a 150-meter-long dam that is a brick building with a height of over 14 metres. It has 12 gates with a 45 cubic metre square flood discharge capacity.

  • Trekking: The dense trees that encircle the Bhimtal Lake are home to a number of trekking trails. 
  • Paragliding: In Naukuchiatal, just 4 kilometres from Bhimtal Lake, thrill seekers can fly paragliding to obtain a bird's eye perspective of the breathtaking surroundings.
  • Waterball: While only taking place on the water, this sport is comparable to zorbing. The pleasure of jogging or walking on the water's surface in one of these water balls is required of all visitors.
