Why to visit Westminster Abbey

•Tourists flock to see Westminster Abbey's gothic design, including its fan-vaulted ceilings and the magnificent pipe organ, which was installed for King George VI's coronation in 1937. The organ incorporates some of the original piping from its predecessor, which was built in 1848.

•There's also the Unknown Warrior's Grave. This tomb houses the remains of an unidentified soldier who died in World War I and was laid to rest in 1920. In the United Kingdom, the Grave remains a symbol honouring those who have died fighting for their country.

•Despite its status as a tourist attraction and venue for important ceremonies, Westminster Abbey is still a functioning house of worship. Every Sunday, as well as on religious holidays, the building hosts regular weekly church services.

•In addition to royal coronations and burials, Westminster Abbey has been the site of 17 royal weddings, including Prince William's marriage to Catherine Middleton in 2011.

Westminster Abbey is one of the most well-known tourist attractions in London. This iconic site, which has been associated with Christianity since the seventh century and has witnessed many burials and coronations, is a must-see attraction for everyone. However, the location has recently gained popularity as a preferred location for Royal Weddings.

Special Tip

Head to Westminster Abbey on a Wednesday afternoon to avoid long lines and/or large crowds.
