Why to visit Parasurameswara Temple

This temple, which was built in 650 A.D., is claimed to be one of the earliest shrines in Bhubaneshwar which is still standing today. The design and architecture of the temple is its most prominent feature. Beautiful statues of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Lord Muruga, and other Hindu idols festoon the temple's external walls. Aside from them, there are several sculptures depicting Puranic stories. The presence of such a magnificent temple demonstrates why Bhubaneshwar is known as India's Temple City.

The Jagamohana, or entrance hall, was linked to the sanctum sanctorum for the first time at Parasurameswar Temple. The rough joints indicate a craft with a newly learned skill set. The presence of asta grahas (eight planets) on the entrance door's lintel attests to its age.

For the first time in the state's temple architecture, the Saptamatrika marks their existence. The Saptamatrika are essentially gods bestowing abilities on Goddess Shakti. In a summary, it means that any woman who becomes a mother gets Shakti's powers.

Unique Factor :-

The temple's one thousand shiva Lingas, which are located on the temple's north west corner, are an unique characteristic. If you're going to visit this temple, don't forget to stop by this site.
