Why to visit Ekmara Haat
The Odisha state government's Ekamra Haat, or craft village, is an endeavour to showcase not only indigenous Odishan handicrafts, but arts and crafts from all across India. Similar artisan villages have been established by the state in Puri, a religious town, and Konark. The goal of this effort was to promote crafts by providing direct marketing possibilities to both urban and rural artists.
Ekamra Haat was designed with the intention of replicating a rustic charm for guests that is unique to Odisha. As a consequence, each artisan's business is modelled after a mud cottage perched above grass dunes. Visitors can choose from a broad variety of handicrafts, including palm leaf inscriptions, pattachitra, cane and bamboo goods, stone and wood sculptures, to name a few. There is also a large choice of fabrics accessible in the 42 shops, as well as local cuisine accessible at the 10 food vendors, all of which are evenly spaced across five acres of land.
Not only is the location known for its arts and crafts, but it is also a renowned entertainment destination. On the stage of Ekamra Haat, programmes such as fancy shows, talent shows and musical shows are held.
