Why to visit Neelkanth Mahadev Temple
One of the top attractions in Alwar is the Neelkant Mahadev Temple, which is situated deep inside the Sariska Tiger Reserve. The ancient temple, which was constructed in the 10th century as a shrine for the worship of Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma, is reached along a precarious and rocky approach.
Currently, only a small section of the temple's primary structure is preserved. Many of the sculptures that adorn the Neelkanth temple's walls are constructed in the sexual style of Khajuraho temples, giving the area a feeling of Mini Khajuraho. Inside the temple, where devotees bow their heads and offer prayers, there is also a Shivlinga.
The Neelkanth Temple's architecture
Tegarding the Neelkanth temple's design, it contains a Rangamandapa that stands erect on four pillars and formerly housed three pancharathas containing three deities. Two of these three pancharathas have been destroyed, but the middle one, with its Shikhara, is still standing.
Harihararka, Narasimha, and Tripurantaka sculptures adorn the Jangha in the East, South, and South, respectively. While Surasndaris and Dikpala figures are carried on the predictions, ornate figures of Natesa are permitted on the doors. Sculptures of Surasundaris and Gandharvas, as well as Padmasila, are used to decorate the Rangamandapa's ceiling.
