If you are planning a holiday to Ladakh, the best season to visit is from April to June (summer). It's summer at the time, which is also Ladakh's busiest tourist season.
Monsoon season in Ladakh lasts from July to August. The temperature ranges from 3 to 16 degrees Celsius during this time of year. The sight of the two rivers Indus and Zanskar swelling up and meandering through the valleys in all their force is breathtaking.

If you travel by jeep, you should stop at Zoji La, the Ladakh door, on the way from Kargil to Ladakh in the Kashmir Valley. A jeep safari can cost as little as INR 32,000, however this is subject to change.
You can also use a shared taxi, which will set you back at least INR 1,200 per passenger. The frequency of shared taxis varies according to the season. In a car, you'd be travelling with a group of 6-7 people, including the driver.
Taxis are available for hiring from Manali to Leh. Before you agree to a charge, haggle. It would cost a minimum of INR 12,000 to complete. Local drivers have more experience driving through rocky terrain, so hire them.
