The Hampta pass is a point from where you can experience the magnificent Lahaul valley in north and Kullu valley on the other side. This trekking lasts only 26 km and covers dramatically changing mesmerising landscape that appears like the four seasons in itself. You can sense the warm sunlight, spring flowers and cold desert that lie in Lahaul and Spiti in this single journey.

The Hampta Pass trek trail will lead you through lakes, rhododendron forest and alpine forests, where you will find Brich, Maple, Oak, and Deodar trees offering cool breeze. You will encounter the slanting cliffs, steep slopes, glaciers and the snowline that starts after trekking some miles. 

The trek begins from the base camp at Jobra that can be reached from Manali on rented cab or private vehicle. Jobra is situated on the Rani Nallah River, and the whole adventures will begin as you drive through 42 hairpin bends, all the way from Manali. At the base camp, you will get some interesting trekking tips and essential details from the professional guide before the beginning of trek that will lead you to Chika from Jobra.

Chika Pass is located in the Pir Panjal range and this will be your first campsite on the journey. It is often said that this trekking experience, in terms of difficulty, is quite moderately challenging. The entire trekking schedule will last for 5 days and and you will be able to conquer the height os 14100 feet at the end.

Hampta Pass Trek is ideal for those who are fit and first-timer because of its variety in difficulties but for the experienced trekker, the difficulty level is moderate as stated before. This is also considered as the safest hike comparable to other high altitude treks. 

With us, you can complete and enjoy this adventurous trek in total five days. We will trek 26 km uphill, camp on the way with food and music (if you know how to play and sing) and at the end, you will be at the elevation of 14,100 feet. Tour Itinerary

  • By 11:00 AM, at pick-up point, Manali Mall Road (tentative), the group will assemble for briefing by the guide.
  • After brief session, journey begins and leads to Jobra (basecamp for Hampta Pass), at an altitude of 9,379 ft.
  • The drive from pickup point to Jobra will have many hairpin bends for scenic experience  and views of Kullu valley.
  • Through thick forests on the way and hairpin bends, you will reach Jobra and your trek will begin after a short break - towards Chika.
  • You will camp in Chika for the remaining hours of the day under stars and skies amidst majestic mountains.
  • Dinner (only veg) will be provided with stay in Chika
  • Tip: Arrive Manali one day prior your trekking adventure to get your body adapt the altitude and weather.
  • After night stay in camp, you will be offered your early morning breakfast.
  • After breakfast, the trekking will begin from Chika towards Balu Ka Ghera.
  • Trekking for Balu Ka Ghera will be of moredate difficulty because of the loose rocks, boulders and sand on the trails.
  • This entire time, you will witness the nature at its best, landscapes, Jwara river, Dhauladar ranges, and waterfall.
  • As you reach closer to the Balu Ka Ghera, the terrain will loose its slope. The point where flattening starts is known as Chota Balu ka Ghera.
  • From here, soon you will reach you actual destination of Day 2, where you will camp, dine and rest for the night.
  • From Balu Ka Ghera, after morning breakfast, your journey will begin for Hampta Pass and Sia Goru.
  • You will be camping for the night at Sia Goru with your group so missing out is not an option after 2-day trek.
  • Before Sia Goru, you will reach the amazing Hampta Pass.
  • Hampta Pass is an epitome of nature at its best with spring and wild flowers, river flowing, picturesque landscape, and views of Deo Tibba peak.
  • Upon reaching Hampta Pass, after an hour approximately, your return to the base will begin.
  • The downhill trekking trail have some loose stones and slipery soil, so precaution is must.
  • The downhill trek will lead you to Sia Goru where you will camp for the night, spend the remaining hours of the day at leisure and served with dinner.
  • After morning breakfast, your downhill trek towards Chatru from Siagoru will begin. This trekking demands your complete attention on the path because of the slopes to be walked.
  • Upon reaching Chatru, you will either stay back or drive towards Chandratal. 
  • Chandratal is an intact lake, 45 km away from the campsite. Your journey towards the prestine lake depends on your will and weather.
  • The harsh weather condition will not allow you to drive towards Chandratal.
  • If you reach Chandratal, you will enjoy the  site and moment in the serenity. After short break, you will head back towards your base camp - Chatru.
  • At Chatru, with overnight stay in tent, the dinner will be served.
  • At Chatru, after morning snacks and breakfast, your journey towards Manali will begin.
  • You will be driven back to Manali and the route will let you have a glimpse of Rohtang Pass.
  • Upon reaching Manali, the group will either part ways or remains connected on personal level. 
  • End of Tour.

At times even certain activities are canceled, the organization provides the best alternative but no refunds are provided.
  • If a trek is called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, etc.), Connecting Traveller will issue a trek voucher for the full amount and if possible will provide an alternate trek. 
  • The voucher can be redeemed up to the same amount for the same trek or another trek in the next 365 days from the trek departure date. But no refund would be provided.
