Why to visit China Town Sydney
Chinatown in Sydney is a popular tourist destination. In the short space between Darling Harbour and Central Station, tourists and locals alike travel to Chinatown to try the cuisines, shop, and absorb the culture. In Sydney, Chinatown is a hotspot for authentic Chinese cuisine and goods. Every day, it attracts a large number of visitors who come to sample its delectable cuisine and shop in its markets. Shopping in Chinatown is very reasonably priced, and you can find some excellent items. It's also a great site to visit for Chinese New Year's Day, which normally falls in February.
Every type of shopper will find something in Chinatown. Paddy's Markets, which dates back to colonial times, has boutiques nestled away in arcades where you can test your bargaining power. Market City has manufacturing outlets upstairs, and nearby World Square has high-street shops and eateries.
The Chinese Garden of Friendship is a calm sanctuary of lovely pavilions, waterfalls and lakes teeming with koi, winding walks, and rich plant life tucked at the south end of Darling Harbour, just a short walk from Chinatown. Take a stroll across the park before stopping for dumplings at the onsite heritage-listed teahouse.
From Central or Town Hall stations, it's a short walk to Chinatown, or you can use the light rail.
