Why to visit The Helix Bridge

The footbridge, formerly known as the Double Helix Bridge, spans the Singapore River and connects the Marina Centre and South Marina Bay. The structure of this exquisite piece of architecture is based on a double helix structure that is modelled after the structure of DNA, which is why it was originally known as the "Double Helix Bridge." This 280-meter-long bridge, made of an unique duplex stainless steel, can hold up to 16000 people at once. The majestic bridge stands roughly three floors tall and is made up of 2250 meter-long steel tubes. It is a pedestrian bridge that connects the city's current CBD area with the newly created Bayfront zone. The magnificent structure is illuminated by ribbons of LED lighting at night, making it a famous tourist destination.

Singapore is a city that transforms into something wonderful at night. The Helix Bridge is one of Singapore's most magnificent attractions. It was introduced to the public in 2010 and is the world's first curved bridge. The Helix, which is located near the Benjamin Shares Bridge and encompasses attractions such as the Esplanade Theatre and the Singapore Flyer on one side and the ArtScience Museum and the grand Marina Bay Sands Resort on the other, forms a curve near the Youth Olympic Park, Gardens by the Bay, and the Bayfront Bridge.

The Bayfront Avenue bus stop is the closest bus stop to Helix Bridge. Get off the bus at this bus stop after taking the NR1, NR6, 97E, 97, 133, or 106 and walk for about 4 minutes to reach the bridge. It's a seven-minute walk from Exit A of the Promenade MRT station to the bridge if you're taking the MRT.

Special Tip

Because of the beautiful illumination effects and stunning views, the best time to see The Helix Bridge is after dark. You are also not permitted to litter around the bridge.
