Why to visit Haw Par Villa

In addition to the primary attraction, Haw Par Villa houses approximately 1000 statues and 150 enormous dioramas depicting scenes from Chinese mythology, artwork, and Confucianism legends. The renowned red brick path weaves its way through Chinese classics like the Eight Immortals and Journey to the West, ascending through a majestic entrance archway. Leopards, dragons, and massive gorilla statues lurk in the shadows, while the Guardians of the Underworld greet visitors as they enter the Ten Courts of Hell. Those interested in learning more about Haw Par Villa's legends and stories should sign up for one of the garden's excursions.

Haw Par Villa, located along Pasir Panjang Road, is an Asian cultural theme park and Singapore's largest outdoor art gallery. This Asian folklore and mythologies collection is famed for displaying the "Ten Courts of Hell" from Chinese folklore, and is said to be the last of its kind in the world. If you dare, enter Haw Par Villa. The nightmare theme park in Singapore depicts the punishments for sins of varied severity, from murder to reading the wrong books, in beautifully detailed three-dimensional dioramas. This location will leave you perplexed (and horrified) by what you have just witnessed, but it is well worth the visit.

To get here by MRT, get out at Haw Par Villa MRT Station and exit at Exit A. The theme park is a one-minute walk from the station. Alternatively, Buses 10, 30, 30E, 51, 143, 188, and 200 stop at the Pasir Panjang Road bus interchange. Take any of these buses to the Haw Par Villa, which is only a minute away from the bus stop.

Special Tip

Due to the graphic nature of the exhibitions, visitors visiting the "Ten Courts of Hell" should exercise caution and seek parental assistance. The park is free to enter.
