Why to visit Salugara Monastery

Salugara is a small settlement on the borders of Siliguri that is known for its eponymous monastery. Kalu Rimpoche, a Tibetan Lama, designed it. The monastery's centrepiece is a 100-foot stupa that houses five Buddhist relics that are greatly venerated by the Buddhist community. The Great International Tashi Gomang Stupa, also known as the Great International Tashi Gomang Temple, attracts travellers from all over the world and is a breathtaking sight to behold. The Dalai Lama's followers founded the Salugara Monastery.

The interiors include a polished wooden floor with prayer mats for followers, and the surrounding walls have colourful images of a meditating Lord Buddha. The entire ambiance is one of complete quiet and serenity, allowing serious worshippers and monks to meditate and introspect against the stunning Himalayan backdrop. Take a stroll through the beautiful gardens that border the main structure, or simply relax and enjoy the tranquilly of Salugara.
