Why to visit Rhino Heritage Museum
Rhino Heritage Museum, located in Shillong's Bara Bazaar district, is dedicated to army men, military weaponry, including combat missiles and guns. The pink rhinoceros sculpture outside the museum is the inspiration for the institution's name. The collection of Japanese army weapons is a highlight, among other displays. It is thought that the museum was built on the spot where Japanese prisoners of war were imprisoned. Lt. Gen. Shokin Chauhan, the director general of the Assam Rifles, later constructed and refurbished it. The Rhino Heritage Museum features unique exhibits and photos exhibiting not just military memorabilia but also local culture.
