Why to visit Air Force Museum

The Indian Air Force's Eastern Command in Shillong houses the Air Force Museum. This museum pays homage to our country's proud heritage of defence. The IAF Eastern Command uses it to display aircraft models, real machines, and technological demos. The museum has uniforms used by air force pilots, missiles, rockets, photos from the Indo-China War and the Indo-Pakistan War, medals, and small models of air craft on exhibit. The massive MI 4 helicopter, which played a key part in the 1971 battle, is on display on the museum grounds and is a sight to behold. The Streak Shadow Microlight, which is part of the well-known Microlight family, is another draw.

Special Tip

To visit the museum, Indians must present identification at the entrance gate. This museum does not admit foreign visitors.
