The edifice, which boasts Maratha-style architecture, is decorated in earthy red, brown, and white tones. The historic architectural marvel is visited by many tourists despite its current state of slight neglect since it still stands strong as a testament to the rich culture and opulence of the past.

Peshwa Bajirao the Second constructed the majestic three-story house known as Vishrambaug Wada in 1811. The Peshwa lived in a home that took more than six years to build and cost a staggering INR 200,000.

The hall, balcony, and durbar on the first floor, which is entirely made of teak, are notable for being the locations where the Peshwa's musicians played. Visitors are no longer permitted on this floor. The ancient monument only has a few areas that are accessible to the public; the remainder is occupied by offices.
