Why to visit Rajmachi Fort Trek

Rajmachi are small hills in Maharashtra's Sahyadri Mountain ranges, not too far from Lonavala Khandala's hill resorts. The peaks that are regarded as some of the best locations for a fantastic hiking and camping experience are lush, fertile slopes on which lie some of the most important landmarks of ancient Indian history.

Things to see around Rajmachi Fort while trekking:

  • First and foremost, the two forts—Manaranjan and Shrivardhan—make it one of the most well-known locations close to fort.
  • The ancient Kondhavi Caves, which are encircled by Rajmachi Fort, provide a lovely view of the superb architectural work carried out in earlier times. This is quite obvious from the carvings on rocks and walls.
  • Here is also home to the well-known Kal Bhairavi Temple, which on special occasions is attractively decked.
  • The Rajmachi waterfalls are of significant tourist appeal. You can visit the tallest waterfall in Maharashtra by taking the Rajmachi Lonavala trekking trail.
  • The old Kondhavi Caves, which are encircled by Rajmachi Fort, provide a lovely perspective of the superb construction work carried out in earlier times.
  • Being one of the most popular activities, Rajmachi Trek attracts a tonne of trekking enthusiasts all year long.
  • Rajmachi camping is a fantastic idea, especially given the distance to get there. Two dormitories owned by the Rajmachi Rural Aid and Development Programme (NGO) provide trekkers camping accommodations for a small fee.

Rajmachi Trek from Mumbai:

You can begin the walk from the side of Kondhane Caves if you are travelling from Mumbai. Please be aware that this is a lengthy approach to Rajmachi, and depending on your pace, the hike should only take you three to four hours.

Rajmachi Trek from Pune:

The trip to Rajmachi is significantly easier from the Pune side. You can travel all the way up to Udhewadi village in your automobile. The 15 kilometre highway from Lonavala to Udhewadi is, however, rather terrible, so we advise you to only do it in an SUV or a vehicle with high ground clearance. The journey there and up to the forts takes barely 30 minutes.

FAQ on Rajmachi Fort Trek

Is there any entry fee or charge to trek to the Rajmachi Fort?

For the Rajmachi trek, you don't officially need to get any permission. However, if you are trekking, the local committee will collect a nominal fee (Rs 5 per person) at the beginning of the journey. The benefit of hikers is served by this sum. The money raised goes toward maintaining the area, cleaning the trail, and providing information.

When is the ideal time to visit Rajmachi Trek?

The best months to trek to Rajmachi Fort are thought to be June to September. You may see the gorgeously shimmering fireflies at night in the months of May and June. The monsoon season's other months are ideal for travel since you can take in the lush flora and hazy skies. Winter months bring the autumnal hues of withering leaves, brighter skies, and a mild chill, which makes for a very different (but still enjoyable) experience.

How to reach Rajmachi Trek?

To start your trek, you can travel to Karjat Lonavala. Both of these locations are reachable from Mumbai and Pune by cars or trains, and the journey there will take you past breathtaking ghat views and waterfalls even before your adventure even starts.

How long does it take to ascend the Rajmachi fort?

Reaching the fort is a difficult climb and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. And once you get there, it will all be worthwhile.

Special Tip

Because the Rajmachi fort walk has much to see, schedule your trip for two days. You will have plenty of time to complete this. If you are walking from Lonavala, there are many stalls along the road where you can purchase steaming tea and delicious pakoras or vada pav that are perfect for a monsoon day.
