Why to visit Boating in Triveni Sangam

Triveni Sangam is one of the most revered locations in Central India (Prayagraj). Three rivers—the Ganga, the Yamuna, and the Saraswati meet there (which is a mythical river, supposed to have dried up more than 4000 years ago).

Hindu legend holds that taking a bath in the revered Triveni Sangam can wash away all of your sins and release you from the reincarnation cycle. In addition, the Sangam itself is tranquil location to explore.

A sight to witness is the brownish Ganga meeting the somewhat greenish Yamuna. You may distinguish between the two rivers' water colours by taking a boat journey to their calmly running waters, the Ganga and the Yamuna.

Moreover, there are improvised wooden banks built at the Sangam. So, devotees can take a bath there if they so choose. You can take a bath in the water because it is clean, especially in the winter.

It is one of the locations where the once every 12 years Kumbh Mela is hosted. In Indian mythology, the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati are all greatly adored, making them of utmost religious significance.

Relevance of Triveni Sangam in Religion :-

According to a tale, during the battle between the Gods and the devils, a nectar drop that could transform mortals into immortals was reported to have fallen on this region of the earth.

Because of this, Allahabad is known as Tirthraja, or "The King of Holy Places." Legends claim that Lord Brahma also conducted the Prakrista Yajna here and that Lord Rama paid a visit to Allahabad while he was in exile.

FAQ on Boating in Triveni Sangam

Does the Triveni Sangam charge a fee to enter?

No, there isn't, even though using the temporary platform built inside the Sangam costs Rs. 20 (approx).

How much does boating at Triveni Sangam cost?

For boating, the starting price for bargaining will be absurd—say, 2,000 for an hour-long boat ride—but if you haggle hard, you should be able to hire an entire boat for a round-trip voyage to Sangam for no more than 500.

How to reach Triveni Sangam?

It is easily accessible to all modes of transportation throughout the city. Booking an Ola cab to transport you to the banks of the Sangam, where you may board a boat or ferry, is the most convenient option. If not, you can also get there by tempo or auto-rickshaw. You can charter a whole boat from the banks to travel back to the Sangam region; but, you will need to haggle hard because, in the off-peak season, a full boat ride shouldn't charge more than Rs 400.

Special Tip

If you're not visiting the Sangam for any religious reason, many of the boatmen who transport you there may try to get you to perform some sort of pooja; unless you truly want to do that, be very clear that you don't want any religious rituals at all. However, if you are here for any religious poojas to be conducted, make sure to inquire the pundits how much they will bill you before actually asking them to do anything for you. If you don't, they will almost certainly give you a ludicrously high quote after the pooja. Do keep in mind that there is a lot of haggling involved; if they price you 1,000 for something, you might ultimately be able to get it done for 100.
