Why to visit Brasserie Thoumieux
The Brasserie Thoumieux lends a sense of luxury to the brunch experience with its red velvet banquettes, green lighting, wooden floors, and wall mirrors. It's the kind suited for a king - a very hungry monarch at that.
Chef Sylvestre Wahid has taken over the brasserie from chef Jean-François Piège, and it's evident that he takes brunch very seriously. They put mountains of handcrafted patisseries, flawless pain au chocolats and croissants, hams, smoked salmon, and a variety of butters, jams, and cheeses on our plates for €49. A hot beverage, fresh juice, a dish of eggs (either eggs benedict, an omelette, or the traditional oeufs meurette, poached eggs in a bourguignon sauce) and a fruit salad round out the menu.
Brasserie Thoumieux's rendition is something you must try at least once in your life, whether you prefer to brunch with determination (eyes on the prize, i.e. wiping that platter clear) or take breaks every now and again.
