Why to visit Mumbai Zoo

Byculla, the centre of the city, is where the zoo is situated. It is one of the oldest zoos in India and the only zoo in Mumbai. It was constructed in 1861. Around 180 mammals, 500 birds, and 40 reptiles are protected in the zoo. The zoo, which is spread out across 48 acres, features almost 3000 species of trees, the majority of which are uncommon.

A variety of creatures, including lions, hyenas, foxes, monitor lizards, black bucks, monkeys, bears, hippos, crocodiles, and langoors, are currently housed in this zoo. A group of black-spotted deer and two elephants named Anarkali and Laxmi each have their own open enclosure.

In comparison to the quantity of animals, the botanical garden has a far larger population and greater variety. Large trees of various types surround the entire region, providing shade for both the path's users and the nearby wildlife.

There is a large collection of loud and colourful birds in the aviary. The zoo is undergoing renovations that will expand the collection of animals and add several exciting new attractions to the facility. A therapeutic garden, a butterfly enclosure, and a visually impaired tactical garden will also be a part of the project.
