Why to visit Pentaling Street
This well known shopping street in Chinatown sells everything, including colourful artificial flowers, bag tags, apparel, bags, electronics, and a variety of other items. If you're good at haggling, this is the place to be. There are plenty of restaurants and food vendors along the way to keep you from getting hungry while shopping. In fact, foodies from all over Kuala Lumpur flock to Petaling Street to sample the flavours of Chinese cuisine.
After dark, the entire area transforms into a lively and vibrant night market, with hundreds of stalls selling all kinds of stuff at dirt-cheap prices, making it the city's most happening night market.
A green awning runs the length of the street, acting as a roof to keep vendors and shoppers cool and dry in the heat and rain. At the main entrance, an Oriental-style archway with the words 'Jalan Petaling/Petaling Street' in gold letters greets visitors.
