Why to visit Twist
Here's a restaurant that's a thousand times cooler than its slightly cheesy name suggests. Rustic chic and atmospheric, with copper-pipe wine racks, unpainted plaster walls, and worn wooden floors. When you consider the warm, low lighting, it's a pretty ideal setting for a date. Just make sure it's someone who deserves the food, which is tapas with a 'twist,' as you've probably guessed. That is, creative and modern, but not strange. Consider Sicilian prawns served as a sashimi salad, or hispi cabbage Josperised (aka 'torched') at the table and sprayed with chilli and garlic oil. Our service was a little chilly during our visit, but we're hoping it was just a fluke.
Special Tip
The Josper-grilled seafood and red-meat cuts are especially good, but don't pass up the 'nduja croquettes if they're available.
