Why to visit Rochelle Canteen

Rochelle Canteen is a busy ground-floor sake bar and mezzanine restaurant with white walls and Alvar Aalto furnishings, just a short walk from Buckingham Palace (a candle on each table at dinner is as glammed-up as it gets). The menu changes everyday, but dishes like harissa-spiced quail or a gorgeous pheasant and trotter pie could be on the menu. This location, just a few minutes' walk from Trafalgar Square, is a fantastic all-rounder.

The Canteen, which was founded in 2004 by Melanie Arnold and Margot Henderson, is located in the old Rochelle School's converted bike shed, with outdoor tables overlooking Arnold Circus's trees.

Special Tip

I recommend trying the undeniably wonderful roast lamb that is lightly seasoned or stuffed with seasonal ingredients. We can't get enough of lamb roasted to perfection.
