Why to visit Hawksmoor Seven Dials
Hawksmoor serves the finest cuts from the finest cattle, accompanied by an array of saliva-inducing sides, sauces, and starters. If you've thrown calorie concerns to the wind, share a porterhouse with grilled bone marrow or a stilton hollandaise. To ease you into the beef, the starters lean toward the traditional British, with options like potted mackerel or prawn cocktail. Another highlight is their drinks menu, which includes a classic 'A History of the Cocktail in Ten Drinks' section as well as 'Anti-fogmatics' and 'Bridging Drinks' for those who prefer not to consume alcohol. Hawksmoor SD is housed in a beautiful former brewery with exposed bare-brick walls, vaulted ceilings, and even a fireplace
Despite its Covent Garden location, the entrance is a little hidden, but once inside, you'll see it's a real beauty of a basement bar and dining room that looks like it's been there for at least a century – in fact, it only opened as a restaurant at the end of 2010. The meat is of higher quality and cooked better than at many more expensive Mayfair steakhouses. That's not to say Hawksmoor is cheap, but it's an experience that every omnivore should have at least once.
Special Tip
A slice of toast buried under an avalanche of delicate white crab meat is a hit to eat
