Why to visit Gurudwara Pather Sahib
Gurdwara Pathar Sahib is a majestic Gurudwara sahib built in Guru Nanak's remembrance, around 25 miles from Leh on the Leh-Kargil route, at a height of 12000 feet above sea level. The Gurdwara was constructed in 1517 to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev's visit to the Ladakh region as the founder Guru of the Sikh faith. Guru Nanak visited several far-flung locations throughout his lifetime, including Tibet. Tibetan Buddhists regard Guru Nanak as a saint, and the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, has verified this in meetings with various Sikh officials, adding that Tibetan Buddhists worship Guru Nanak as a Buddhist saint known as Guru Gompka Maharaj.
