Why to visit Adoni Fort

The fortress walls of Adoni fort stretch for more than 50 kilometres, making it one of India's largest forts. In the 15th century, Adoni served as a military base for the Vijayanagara Empire. After the fall of the Vijayanagara empire, it was taken over by the Sultan of Bijapur. Adoni remained a relatively autonomous territory administered by nobles nominated by Bijapur sultans. The governor of Adoni, Siddi Masud, built various improvements to the fort, including Jamia Masjid and several villages.
