Why to visit Devil's Kitchen (Guna Caves)
The Guna Caves, a natural heritage site also known as the Devil's Kitchen, are located on the outskirts of Kodaikanal and are accessible from Moir Point. Only hikers used to go here because it wasn't very well known. However, it became well-known when a 1992 Tamil film by the name of "Guna" was filmed there. The Pillar Rocks, a trio of enormous boulders, are surrounded by this collection of caverns. The gorge is not only a fantastic setting for photography, but it also consistently has dense clouds during the monsoon and winter months. Visitors must travel 400 metres from the main entrance to the hilltop.
In 1821 CE, an English Officer by the name of B.S. Ward also discovered other locations in and around Kodaikanal, including this one. 2230 metres above sea level is where the caverns are located. Aside from everything else, the location is incredibly accessible because it is only 8.5 kilometres from Kodaikanal Bus Station and 1.5 km from Pillar Rocks. The Guna Caves are still among the most popular destinations in Kodaikanal at the moment. They are located on top of a hill in the middle of a dense forest, behind the Pillar Rocks.
