Lord Shiva is honoured at the Tungnath temple. The temple is the third in the Panch Kedars' hierarchy and is thought to be 1000 years old. Adi Shankaracharya was the one who discovered this precious shrine. According to legend, Vyas Rishi reminded the Pandavas that they could only be forgiven by Lord Shiva because they were responsible for the deaths of their own cousins during the Mahabharata conflict.
It is a modest shrine with a sanctum that can only hold ten people.
