Why to visit Shri Bhairavnath Temple

This temple is devoted to the Hindu god Bhairav, who is said to be Shiva's principal gana. Trishula is the Lord's weapon, and his vahan is a dog. The temple's deity is also known as Kshetrapal, or the region's guardian. When Kedarnath Temple closes during the winter months owing to severe snowfall, tradition has it that the deity at Bhairavnath Temple guards the main temple area as well as the entire Kedarnath valley.
