Why to visit Chandrashila trek

One of the most popular treks in the region is the Chandrashila trek. The 4.5-kilometer climb to the mountain begins at Chopta and passes via Tungnath (3 km from Chopta), home to the world's highest Shiva shrine. Chandrashila is a 1.5-kilometer difficult hike from Tungnath that rewards you with breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains. Despite its shorter distance, this walk is difficult due to the severe climbs. This journey takes about 6-7 hours round trip.

Special Tip

The compulsory entry fees at specific checkpoints, hike permits, and mandatory forest camping costs in the region, which vary depending on the length of stay.
