Naina Bhagwati Mandir is a well-known Hindu temple in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district. This temple is located near the banks of the River Parvati in the foothills of the great Himalayas. This temple honours Goddess Naina Bhagwati, a divine power born of Lord Shiva's third eye.
This temple attracts a large number of devotees and is well-known for its architecture. From a distance, this Naina Bhagwati temple appears to be a Buddhist monastery.
Why is it so famous?
- Lord Mahadeva and his divine consort, Goddess Parvati, are said to have meditated here for eleven thousand years, according to legend. Goddess lost a jewel while bathing in the nearby river and couldn't find it. When she sought Lord Shiva's assistance and he couldn't find it, his rage caused him to open his third eye.
- Goddess Naina Bhagwati emerged from the eye. She saw the jewel in the depths of the river, held by Shesh Naag, the serpent king. She warned him to return the jewel to her. He blew the hissing, which caused the jewel to float.
- The temple of Goddess Naina Bhagwati was built here. It has been renovated several times to ensure a strong structure. The sanctum houses the beautiful idol of Goddess Naina Bhagwati, which is worshipped daily by pilgrims and devotees.
