Why to visit Sheesh Mahal, Jodhpur
The Sheesh Mahal in Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort is a visual feast for the eyes. This magnificent structure, also known as the Glass Palace of Jodhpur, is covered in elaborate mirror work from floor to ceiling. The brightly coloured plaster murals of various religious characters compliment these decorative accessories nicely. Later additions to this hall include the blue, green, silver, and gold ornaments dangling from the ceiling, as well as the great European chandelier. The Sheesh Mahal in Mehrangarh was Maharaja Ajit Singh's bedchamber during his reign as Maharaja of Jodhpur from 1679 to 1724
