Why to visit Women's Bazaar

The Women's Bazaar (Kadnlar Pazar) in the Fatih neighbourhood is a popular destination for foodies. This street of butchers, kebab eateries, and fresh produce stalls serves as a true community gathering place. Come here to stock up on picnic supplies of local speciality cheeses, fruit, pickles, dried fruit, nuts, and olives, or simply join the locals doing their daily shopping and peruse the massive piles of vegetables in the stalls and swinging corpses in the butcher shop windows.

The Women's Bazaar, which began in the 1940s as a venue for housewives to market hand-made and homegrown goods - hence the name Kadnlar Pazar - has evolved to include around 72 shops where residents sell produce collected from local villages' farms.

The market is an easy one-kilometer walk from Vezneciler metro station.

Special Tip

The bustling Women's Bazaar isn't for the faint of heart, however it's a great place to witness local life. Freshly slain sheep carcasses sway in the breeze, and stores sell dried sheep heads, smelly tulum cheese, and other oddities.
