Why to visit Rüstem Pasha Mosque

It was constructed for Rustem Pasha after his tragic death in 1561, and it is a hidden gem in Istanbul that exhibits imperial Sinan's remarkable work. The colonnade columns and domes are particularly impressive, and the mosque is composed of marble and granite. The walls are decorated with geometric and floral designs, while the interiors are ornamented with stunning patterns fashioned from Iznik tiles. A religious school is also located within the mosque, where children are taught about Islam.

The Rustem Pasha Mosque is a short walk from the Eminonu Pier and bus station, and is located in the winding lanes behind Istanbul's Spice Bazaar. By bus, ferry, or cab, you can get to Eminonu Square and then walk the short distance to the mosque. Book a trip that includes transportation for the most convenience.

Special Tip

You must dress suitably to enter the mosque because it is a functioning religious site. Scarves and covers are available at the mosque if required. However, wheelchairs are not permitted within the mosque.
