Why to visit Alpather Lake
The lake is a must-see for everyone who like hiking, and getting there requires a one-day trip from Gulmarg to Alpather Lake. The fairly challenging journey will require you to take the Gulmarg, Khilanmarg, Apharwat Ridge, and Alpather Lake routes.
The lake is a wonderful sight in the winter with a clear frozen glassy top and ducks walking on them rather than wading. If you visit during the summer, though, you will be greeted by an entirely different scene, with lovely mountain flowers and trees filling the surrounding areas.
After a day-long journey from Gulmarg, visitors can arrive at Alpather Lake. Visitors can get there by riding ponies as well. Beginning early in the morning, those who are keen in horseback riding can make the trip in one day. Thrill seekers can hike the straight-up ridge of Apharwat Peak and then walk to the opposite side
